PASTORS

We believe that the leadership of the local church should be formed by the ancient Scriptures rather than the corporate world. For us, this means that the Church at Raymond is led by a plurality (Acts 20:17) of pastors (Titus 1:5), qualified for leadership by the grace of Jesus Christ and in accordance with the requirements given by the Apostles (1 Timothy 3:1-13).

 

This model is explicitly laid out in Scripture. It provides accountability; all men are fallible. It also provides support for efficiency, effectiveness, and endurance in service to the flock. One lone Pastor can become overwhelmed.

We believe that the Pastors or Elders of the church are under shepherds to the Great Shepherd Jesus Christ. They are called to joyfully take watch over the souls of the fellowship at Raymond as those who will give an account to the Great Shepherd (Hebrews 13:17).
